Vans RV
This kit is designed to be installed by experienced aircraft mechanics and homebuilders in Vans RV-4, RV-6, RV-7, RV-8 aircraft. The kit comes will all major components minus plumbing and hardware, refer to the installation manual for included items and required items to complete the installation.
Kit Types
We offer four different kits - Core-FI, Core-CB, Apex-FI, and Apex-CB - designed to match your specific engine and airframe configuration. Each package includes all primary system components, while builders provide their own standard installation hardware (a list of required hardware is detailed in the manual). To streamline the sheet metal work, we include a precision drill jig that ensures accurate, hassle-free mounting of the combustion chambers to your wingtip ribs. Electrical integration is straightforward and supported by comprehensive wiring diagrams. While routing the fuel and oil lines is the most involved phase of the installation, the process utilizes standard techniques that will be familiar to any Van’s RV builder.

Wingtips
Our kit is compatible with either the stock Vans Hoerner style tip for the RV-4, RV-6, RV-7, or RV-8 or with our specially designed carbon fiber wingtip.

To use a stock Hoerner style tip, our Core kits comes with the tools and parts necessary to modify the tips to accept the combustion chambers. The wingtips require four modifications:
- the trailing edge of the fiberglass wingtip is cut using our cut guide so the combustion chamber can pass out of the wingtip
- fiberglass fairings must be secured over the combustion chambers (included with kit)
- 1" hole cut into the leading edge of the wingtip and inlet tube secured
- NACA duct installed in bottom of tip

Vans Hoerner Tip

Smoke Master Wingtip
The Smoke Master Wingtip was carefully engineered and flight tested to produce the highest quality smoke trail without compromising the stall characteristics of the aircraft. The new profile results in a denser, longer lasting smoke trail that further improves the stunning smoke trails. Extensive flight tests demonstrated that the stall characteristics were unaffected during stalls. The wingtip comes complete as a carbon fiber assembly that includes integrated combustion chamber fairings, inlet tube, NACA duct, and servicing access panel. All that is required of the customer is to trim the inboard edge of the tip to match fit it to your aircraft and install the fasteners.
